Center for Community Health Advocacy

OUR MISSION

The Center for Community Health Advocacy serves as a hub for community resources, health organizations, and nonprofits working to improve public health services in low income neighborhoods and urban centers. It trains the next generation of community health advocates to produce engaged research that strengthens public health infrastructures and helps community health organizations grow and thrive.

What Is the Center for Community Health Advocacy?

The Center for Community Health Advocacy is a bold new community sustainability initiative that helps strengthen public health infrastructures through training, advocacy, and support services.

The Center operates through multi-institutional partnerships between community-based public health nonprofits and academic research institutions.

Our work aims to improve the reach and efficacy of place-based healthcare systems, make community-driven care more accessible and affordable, improve the quality of culturally responsive care in violence provision and public health interventions, promote neighborhood revitalization in disinvested communities, and strengthen community resilience.

The center’s two core functions are:

  • To produce evidence-based research and provide support services to community organizations serving low-income neighborhoods and urban centers
  • To train a rising cohort of community health advocates in culturally responsive and community-led public health research methods
